ASSAULT, ROBBERY RESULTS IN CHARGES (CHAPLEAU, ON.) – On January 22, 2012 at approximately 2:40 am Superior East OPP in Chapleau were dispatched to a report of an assault and robbery at a residence on Minto Street.

ASSAULT, ROBBERY RESULTS IN CHARGES

(CHAPLEAU, ON.) – On January 22, 2012 at approximately 2:40 am Superior East OPP in Chapleau were dispatched to a report of an assault and robbery at a residence on Minto Street.  Upon arrival it was learned that the male victim had a case of beer stolen from his residence and while attempting to retrieve the case had been struck in the head with a full beer-bottle.

The two male suspects who had fled the scene were subsequently identified and arrested. The victim was subsequently treated at the Chapleau Hospital for minor head injuries. 

Charged with the following Criminal Code offences are;

Michel BERGERON age 20 of Chapleau, Ontario;

(1)  Unlawfully in a Dwelling House

(2)  Robbery with Violence

He has been released on a Promise to Appear returnable on February 29, 2012 at Chapleau Criminal Court;

Michael McAULEY age 22 of Chapleau, Ontario;

(1)  Breach of Probation

(2)  Fail to Comply with Undertaking x 2

(3)  Robbery and Wounding

(4)  Unlawfully in a Dwelling House

(5)  Obstruct/Resist Peace Officer

This accused has been escorted to Timmins, Ontario to await a bail hearing.

COLLISION RESULTS IN CRIMINAL AND DRUG CHARGES

(WAWA, ON.) –  On January 23, 2012 at approximately 12:40 am Superior East OPP in Wawa attended single vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Lendrum Township just north of Wawa.  The northbound Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck had entered the ditch causing minimum damage.  

Investigation at the scene revealed that the lone male driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.  As a result of breath tests it was learned that the subject was over the legal limit.  A small quantity of marihuana was also located.  As a result 49 year old Francois MIRON of Manitouwadge, Ontario stands charged with;

(1)  Exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol content

(2)  Possession of Cannabis Marihuana under 30 gms

He will attend Wawa Criminal Court on April 16, 2012 to answer to the charges.

OPP LOCATE STOLEN VEHICLE 

(Blind River, ON.) – On January 19, 2012 officers from the East Algoma OPP detachment in Blind River received a traffic complaint of a vehicle travelling westbound into Blind River. Officers located and stopped the vehicle in Blind River.  A check revealed that it was stolen from Bolton Ontario.  Charged are 29 year old Timothy BROWN from Toronto and 20 year old Krystal VILLENEUVE of Bolton.

Timothy BROWN has been charged with the following criminal offences:

1)    Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.00

2)    Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.00

3)    Obstruct Peace Officer

4)    Personation with Intent

VILLENEUVE has been charged with the following criminal offences:

1)    Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.00

2)    Obstruct Peace officer

BROWN and VILLENEUVE were held in custody pending a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie.
