Store policy angers customer

(Spanish, Ont.) - On December 29th, 2004 the OPP attended a local business regarding a complaint of a customer threatening the owner.

Investigation revealed that at approximately 8:30 p.m. a male attended the business requesting to rent two movies and offering to pay for the rentals the next day.

The store clerk advised the customer that this would not be acceptable.

The suspect then began to swear and threatened the owner.
Charged with Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm is Jeremiah WELLS (41) of Spanish, Ontario.
WELLS was remanded into custody awaiting bail.

Expensive chocolate bar

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) - If you want it you have to pay for it.
On December 30, 2004 at approximately 2 p.m. police were contacted to attend a local grocery store.

Employees advised police that a male was observed holding a chocolate bar and placing it down the right sleeve of his coat.
The suspect then left the store without paying for the chocolate bar.
Charged with Theft Under $5,000 is Jason Alan BROWN (27) of Elliot Lake.
BROWN is scheduled to appear in court on February 1, 2005.

Mischief to apartment building doors

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) - At approximately 2:20 a.m. on December 31, 2004 unknown person(s) broke two bottom glass panes to the outside exit doors of 6 Willoughby Road.

Approximate damage is $400.

Manitoulin OPP assist Wikwemikong Tribal Police
On January 1, 2005 Manitoulin OPP were called to assist the Wikwemikong Tribal Police who had a subject that had barricaded himself in a residence. Local officers maintained security of the area until specialized units were able to attend. OPP units, Emergency Response Team, TRU, K-9, and negotiators were utilized. The suspect surrendered peacefully after speaking to negotiators, and was turned over to Tribal Police officers to complete their investigation into the incident.

Motor vehicle collisions

There were eight motor vehicle collisions and numerous ditched vehicles reported to Manitoulin OPP over the holiday season. The majority of these occurred during inclement weather. Police remind motorists to adjust their speed during winter storms, and request that they not travel if at all possible during poor weather conditions.

Drug seizure

On December 29, 2004 police received information that a person was in possession of marijuana in Little Current. As a result of the investigation a quantity of marihuana was seized. Charged with unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance is Vance Negonnegijig (21 years) of Blake Street in Little Current. He has been released with a court date in January.
