DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE! (Elliot Lake, Ontario) – While working on general patrol in the area of Westhill Road in Elliot Lake on July 10, 2010 at approximately 10:31 p.m.
DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE!

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – While working on general patrol in the area of Westhill Road in Elliot Lake on July 10, 2010 at approximately 10:31 p.m. an officer of the East Algoma OPP conducted a traffic stop of a 3 wheel All Terrain Vehicle.

Through investigation the driver was charged. Charged with Exceed 80 Milligrams is Richard FALARDEAU (21) of Elliot Lake.

FALARDEAU is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on August 10, 2010.

TAKE MOTOR VEHICLE WITH CONSENT

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On July 10, 2010 at approximately 3:42 p.m. police received a call regarding a possible stolen vehicle.

Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been taken without the consent of the owner. Police located the subject and the vehicle was returned to the owner.

Charged with the following is Alan Jason SMITH (39) of North Bay.

Drive while Disqualified
Take Motor Vehicle without Consent

SMITH is scheduled to appear in court on September 7, 2010.

THEFT OF MOTOR

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On July 4, 2010 the East Algoma OPP received a call to attend a residence on Ottawa Avenue regarding the possible theft of a motor off the back of a boat.

Police learned that sometime during the night of July 3, 2010 or the early morning of July 4, 2010 unknown person(s) removed an electric trolling motor off the back of a boat parked in the driveway. The motor is described as being white with a black transom and a white propeller. The motor is approximately 30 years old.

MISCHIEF TO HATCHERY

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP is currently investigating a mischief to the Elliot Lake pickerel hatchery on Kyle Lake.

Sometime between the 19th of May 2010 and the 26 of May 2010 unknown person(s) shot holes in the siphon pipe for the hatchery. This mischief stopped the flow of water from the lake into the pond, which put the entire year to date work at the hatchery in jeopardy and this year’s pickerel stock in danger of dying.

TWO CHARGED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – July 6, 2010 while on general patrol officers of the East Algoma OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 108. At approximately 12:35 p.m. the vehicle was stopped and through investigation two people were charged.

Charged with the following is a 17-year-old female youth of Elliot Lake.

Possession of Cocaine
Possession of other drugs

Also charged with the following is Keith MEAWASIGE (31) of Culter, Ontario

Possession of other drugs
Possession for the Purpose
Fail to Comply (X5)

MEAWASIGE was remanded to Sault Ste Marie awaiting a bail hearing

The youth is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on the 31st, of August 2010.

The name of the youth will not be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

BREAK ENTER AND THREAT CHARGES FOR LOCAL MALE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP has arrested and charged a local male after receiving a complaint of threatening.

July 8, 2010 police attended a residence on Mississauga Avenue regarding a possible break enter and threatening complaint. On scene police learned that the subject had allegedly entered the residence via a window and threatened the occupants.

Charged with the following is Robert Carl COPPENS (38) of Elliot Lake.

Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm

COPPENS is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on September 7, 2010.
