SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGES
(Elliot Lake, Ont.)

The East Algoma OPP have arrested and charged a local man after investigating a report of a sexual assault. Charged is Michael BARRY (52) of Elliot Lake. BARRY is charged with 3 counts of Sexual Assault and Sexual Assault with a Weapon.

Michael BARRY appeared in Bail Court today in Sault Ste. Marie. BARRY will return to Elliot Lake Court on August 24, 2004.

The investigation is continuing.



THREE LOST IN THE BUSH OVERNIGHT
Three people embarked on an early morning 4x4 truck ride yesterday on the old dirt road that, decades earlier, had connected Sault Ste. Marie to Goulais Bay. The road is not maintained and is only passable with a 4x4 and off-road driving skills to match.

The two women and a male became struck about 15 kms north of the Sault. The three waited to morning before separating to get help. The police, using all-terrain vehicles, located all three unharmed and returned them to Sault Ste. Marie.

The Sault detachment of the O.P.P. with the assistance of City Police and Garden River Police conducted the search and rescue.
