Stunt driving TILLEY TOWNSHIP – On July 19, 2015 at approximately 2 a.m. Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting stationary radar on Highway 17 north.

TILLEY TOWNSHIP – On July 19, 2015 at approximately 2 a.m. Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting stationary radar on Highway 17 north. A pick-up truck traveling northbound was clocked on radar with a speed in excess of 50 km/hr over the posted 90 km/hr speed limit.

The driver, Robert RIVARD, 52 years, of Goulais Township was charged for Stunt Driving-excessive speed as per section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver also received a seven day administrative driver’s licence suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was seized for seven days and towed to a Motor Vehicle Impoundment site.    

The accused was issued a summons to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Sault Ste. Marie on August 12, 2015.

Break and enter

BATCHEWANA FIRST NATION - On July 18, 2015 Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter to a residence in the 2000 block of Goulais Mission Road. The break-in occurred sometime between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on July 18, 2015. Upon entering the residence, suspect(s) injured a family pet. A locked firearms cabinet containing several non-restricted long guns were stolen from the residence.

An air gun was also stolen along with a camouflage hunting backpack containing a set of binoculars and a hatchet.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
