BLACK DUFFLE BAG STOLEN (Elliot Lake, Ontario) On July 25th, 2009 at approximately 1:26 a.m. police were called regarding a disturbance on Mississauga Avenue.
BLACK DUFFLE BAG STOLEN

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On July 25th, 2009 at approximately 1:26 a.m. police were called regarding a disturbance on Mississauga Avenue.

During police investigation it was learned that someone had taken a black duffle bag from the area. The victim reports that he was carrying the bag and during the disturbance unknown person(s) took the bag. The bag contained a Fugi Camera and an ACER 5315 laptop.

Investigation continuing.

LOCK IT OR LOSE IT !!!!!!!

1) (Elliot Lake, Ontario) Sometime during the early hours of July 26, 2009 unknown persons entered an unlocked vehicle on MacFarlane Road in Elliot Lake and stole several items. Taken from the vehicle were a hunting knife, a fishing licence, personal cheque and small amount of money.

The knife is described as being large with an 8-inch long blade. The blade is serrated on one side and straight on the other. The handle is green with a black plastic sheath.

Investigation continuing.

2) (Elliot Lake, Ontario) Police are currently investigating a theft from an unlocked vehicle. Sometime during the late evening of July 24th, 2009 or the early hours of July 25th, 2009 unknown persons entered an unlocked vehicle on Athens Road in Elliot Lake.

The glove compartment was rummaged and two (2) 2way radios were stolen. They are Motorola Talkabout 14 channel radios, purplish blue in color.

Investigation continuing.

3) (Elliot Lake, Ontario) On July 24, 2009 police received a call to attend a local grocery store regarding a possible theft of a purse.

Investigation revealed that the victim had attended the store to purchase items. When leaving the store, the victim unloaded items purchased and her purse into her unlocked vehicle. The victim returned the cart to the cart storing area and upon her return to the car noted her purse was missing.

LOCAL CHURCH VICTIM OF MISCHIEF

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) Officers of the East Algoma OPP attended 96 Dieppe Avenue to investigate a report of broken windows at the Salvation Army Church.

On scene police noted that two (2) stained glass windows on the east side of the church has been broken.

The damage occurred sometime during the evening of July 22, 2009.

Investigation continuing.

BOAT AND MOTOR STOLEN

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) The East Algoma OPP is currently investigating the theft of a boat and motor.

On July 21st, 2009 police attended a residence on Taylor Boulevard and received information that a boat and motor, which was stored in a lane way behind the residence, had gone missing sometime during the night.

The boat is described as being an aluminium silver and black in color powerboat approximately 3.7m in length with a 30hp motor.

Investigation continuing.

CHURCH VICTIM OF THEFT

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) July 23, 2009 police attend the Pentecostal Church on Esten Drive South in Elliot Lake regarding a possible break enter and theft.

On scene police learned that sometime during the evening unknown person(s) entered a shed behind the church and stole gas cans.

Entry was gained by kicking a hole in the front wall of the shed. The gas tanks are described as follows:
1 red plastic 5-litre container
1 red plastic 1-litre container

MISCHIEF TO HOME ON MISSISSAUGA AVE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On July 25th, 2009 at 1:36 a.m. officers of the East Algoma OPP received a call to attend a disturbance on Mississauga Avenue in Elliot Lake.

Upon arrival the group dispersed in all directions and police were advised of a possible mischief just down from where the disturbance had originated.

The victim reported to police that his front door had been smashed with a solar light from his yard.

Damage to the property is as follows: One decorative glass main door, two solar lights and a flowerpot.

Estimated damage is approximately $800.00.

Police are continuing their investigation.

DROWNING VICTIM RECOVERED

(WAWA) – On July 26, 2009 the Wawa Detachment of The OPP received a report of a possible drowning on Manitowak Lake which had occurred at approximately 3:30 pm when a man fell from his boat and disappeared under the water. The OPP Marine and Dive units were immediately dispatched to the scene and search operations commenced. On Sunday July 25, 2009 at 3:18 pm the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located the body of Robert Lynn WILLSON, age 60 of MACOMB, Michigan. Mr WILLSON was positively identified by family members. The incident is still under investigation however foul play is not suspected at this time.
