OPP RESPOND TO ACCIDENT AT WESDOME GOLD MINE

(SUPERIOR EAST, ON)  On June 15, 2013 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were advised that an accident involving a Toyota Land Cruiser and an Ore Hauler had occurred underground at Wesdome Gold Mine on Paint Lake Road north of Wawa.  The male driver of the Toyota was transported to Lady Dunn General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. 

Initial OPP investigation revealed that the Toyota struck the rock wall underground and then hit the rear box of a parked 25 tonne Ore Hauler.  The OPP investigation has been completed and is now turned over to the Ministry of Labour.  OPP have not laid charges in this matter.
