The collapse of a tree house on Friday night at a Goulais River birthday party sent one child to Sault and Area Hospital.

On Friday, at about 9:00 p.m., seven children were playing in a tree house about eight feet off the ground at a home on Pineshores Road in Goulais River. It collapsed and all seven children fell to the ground. One child was transported to Sault and Area Hospital by ambulance with a back injury. Several other children were also injured but did not required medical treatment at the hospital.

A Goulais River man faces an impaired boating charge after his vessel ran aground in Havilland Bay.

At about 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night, Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to the area after local people reported that the boat was grounded on a sand bar and the engine was still running. Police arrived and found the lone occupant of the sail boat under the influenc
