(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – Police are currently investigating the theft of shoes from a local business.

June 19th, 2013 at approximately 2:17 p.m. police attended Sarich Source For Sports on Ontario Avenue in Elliot Lake and learned that a youth had taken a pair of running shoes from a sidewalk display in front of the business.

The youth is described as 16 to 18 years old, slim with very short blond hair and was wearing a green tee shirt with grey sweatpants.

Anyone with information regarding the above Theft is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Any information that leads to the arrests or identity of persons responsible can lead to a cash reward. You can remain anonymous and crime stoppers do not subscribe to call display.

THEFT OF BOAT MOTOR GAS CAN

(CHAPLEAU, ON) - On June 21, 2013 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Chapleau Detachment were advised of a boat motor gas can theft that had occurred between June 7 and June 14, 2013.  The theft occurred on private property on Lansdowne Street in Chapleau, Ontario.  The gas can is described as a 22L red plastic gas tank that was full of fuel.

OPP continue to investigate this matter.  Anyone with any information is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.

ASSAULT CHARGES LAID

(CHAPLEAU, ON) - On June 23, 2013 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were advised of an assault that had taken place in Kaplan Township, Sultan, Ontario.  The assault included the use of a golf club; the victim did seek medical treatment.  Investigation resulted in the arrest of 52-year-old Daniel GRAVEL of Sultan, Ontario. 

The accused stands charged with the following criminal offences;

1) Assault
2) Assault with a weapon
3) Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
 
He was held in police custody and will be attending Bail Court in Timmins, Ontario on June 24, 2013.

MALE CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

(WAWA, ON) - On June 23, 2013 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were conducting R.I.D.E. checks on Broadway Avenue at the intersection of Main Street in Wawa. A vehicle stopped at the check and the officer approached and spoke with the driver.  The investigating officer detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver.  Upon failing a roadside breath test, the driver, Joseph MCLEOD a 37-year-old from Garden Village, Ontario was arrested and escorted to the OPP detachment for further breath tests.
 
As a result the accused stand charged with Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 mgs of Alcohol.  He is schedule to appear in Criminal Court in Wawa on August 12, 2013.
