LOCAL YOUTH CHARGED WITH DRUG OFFENCES

(WAWA, ON) – On June 23, 2012 just before midnight Ontario Provincial Police Superior East Wawa Detachment officers had occasion to speak with 3 youth on Broadway Ave.  As a result of this incident a 14-year-old youth was charged with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana, under 30 grams.  The remaining youth were released unconditionally.  The youth charged is scheduled to appear in Wawa Court on August 13, 2012.

IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE

(CHAPLEAU, ON) – On June 23, 2012 at 1:40 am Ontario Provincial Police Superior East Chapleau Officers were dispatched to the Royal Canadian Legion to assist with intoxicated individuals.  The officers were advised by witnesses that the persons removed from the Legion had entered a vehicle and were leaving the area.  The vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Pine St and Monk St.

As a result the driver, 24 year old Bradley TAYLOR of Sudbury, ON was arrested and charged with the following;

1.  Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
2.  Exceed 80 milligrams of Blood/Alcohol Content
3.  Drive Motor Vehicle without Driver’s License

He will appear in Chapleau Court on August 15, 2012 to answer to these charges.

SINGLE MOTOR VEHICLE ROLLOVER

(Fisher Twp., ON) On Saturday, June 23, 2012 Sault Ste. Marie OPP, Batchewana First Response and ambulance were dispatched to a single motor vehicle rollover on Maple Ridge Road in Fisher Township.

A blue Chevrolet pick-up truck was southbound on Maple Ridge Road when the driver lost control and drove into the west side ditch resulting in the ejection of several persons from the vehicle.

There were six people in the pick-up truck with two passengers riding in the back of the truck.

All five passengers were injured.

A male and female passenger received serious but non life-threatening injuries and were transported to Sault Area Hospital by ambulance.

Thirty-five year old Andrew Murray ROWAN of Highway 563 Fisher Township was arrested and charged with Driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada; Driving while under suspension; Using a licence plate not authorized for the vehicle and Driving while a passenger under 16 fails to occupy a position with a seatbelt.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for Provincial Court in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on July 9, 2012.
