POLICE CHARGE ONE WITH POSSESSION

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – June 24, 2010 at approximately 2:45 p.m. police noted suspicious activities in a parking lot on Hergott Avenue in Elliot Lake.

Police stopped the vehicle and through investigation a male was arrested and charged.

Charged with Possession of Cocaine is Norman Edward TOPPING (60) of Elliot Lake. TOPPING is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on October 5, 2010.

ONE MALE CHARGED

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) –The East Algoma OPP has arrested and charged a local male resulting from an incident on June 19, 2010.

On the night in question, police spoke with the victim and learned that he had been on his was back to residence driving his bicycle when the subject approached him. Words were exchanged and the subject allegedly punched the victim.

Charged with the following is Gerard HINKS (20) of Elliot Lake.

HINKS remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

MISCHIEF TO PARKED VEHICLES

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – Police are currently investigating mischief to cars in the parking lot of 1 Washington Crescent in Elliot Lake.

June 24, 2020 at approximately 9:30 p.m. several youths were seen in the parking lot area jumping and landing on hoods of vehicle parked on the ground level of the parking garage. Officers attended the area and noted damage to two (2) vehicles. Estimated cost of damage is not available at this time.

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISON - FATALITY HIGHWAY 17

(ESPANOLA, ON.) – Officers from the Espanola/Sudbury Detachment are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Hwy 17, West of Massey. This happened on June 27, 2010 at approximately 9:30 PM.

A 16 year old male was driving his motorcycle West Bound on Hwy 17. At the same time an adult female was driving her Ford Ranger East Bound on Highway 17 when she pulled out to pass a slow moving vehicle. It appears the driver of the motorcycle tried to avoid a collision, lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected from the motorcycle. The driver of the Ford Ranger saw the motorcycle, tried to avoid it and hit the driver.

This section of highway 17 is straight, level without ambient light. The weather was overcast, heavy mist, light rain and wind.

The highway was shut down from the time of the collision till 2:30AM in the morning. During this time period a detour was set up for passenger vehicles. After 2:30 AM one lane of the highway was open to traffic

Officers are continuing their investigation with the assistance of Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and Collision Reconstructionists.

At this time no names are being released.

Domestic Occurrences Results in Charges

(Havilland Twp, ON) On Friday the 26th of June Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to a Havilland Twp location to investigate a domestic occurrence. As a result of this investigation a 29 year old man from Sault Ste Marie has been charged with two counts of assault and one count of uttering threats. The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Monday.

(Aweres Twp, ON) On Saturday the 27th of June Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to a residence to investigate a domestic occurrence. A 37 year old Sault Ste Marie man has been charged with mischief under $5000.00 for damaging household appliances with a sledge hammer. The man had been drinking at the time. He was released on conditions to appear in Sault Ste Marie court in July.

Two Break and Enters Investigated

(McDonald Twp, ON) A break and enter into a shed on a recreational property on McCarrells Lake was reported on Saturday. The shed was broken into some time between April and May. Stolen was a 1986 9.9 Evinrude outboard motor.

(Dennis Twp, ON) A break and enter into a shed on a property being prepared for construction on Lake Shore Drive in Dennis twp occurred between 1:00 p.m. Friday and 3:00 p.m. Saturday. A hasp was pried off the door of the shed. Stolen were a 2 HP Campbell air compressor and a 20 year old 6 HP Mercury outboard motor. Left at the scene were a 5 lbs splitting wedge, hatchet, hammer and a hay hook.

Motor Vehicle Crash Results in Impaired Driving Charges

(Laird Twp, ON) At 7:30 p.m. on Sunday the 27th of June Sault Ste Marie OPP investigated a motor vehicle collision between a tractor trailer and a Pontiac Bonneville. The tractor trailer which was east bound on Hwy 17 was struck by the north bound Pontiac traveling on Calabogi Rd. Neither driver was injured. Charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level in excess of the legal limit is Carole NASLAOVAR age 64 of 89 Pine St. Sault Ste Marie. Ms NASLAOVAR is also charged with fail to yield contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
