DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE (Elliot Lake, Ontario) May 25 th , 2018 at 12:18 a.m. an officer of the East Algoma OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 108. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage.

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) May 25th, 2018 at 12:18 a.m. an officer of the East Algoma OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 108.

While speaking with the driver, the officer detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage.  The driver was asked to conduct a breath test with the officer.  Through conversation and some attempts the driver did not provide a proper sample.

Charged with the following is Michael Wayne RIDING (50) of Elliot Lake.

  •           Fail to Provide Breath Sample
  •           Fail to Comply with Undertaking before Officer in Charge
  •           Breach of Recognizance

The accused is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on July 2, 2013.

WORDS TURN INTO ASSAULT CHARGES FOR LOCAL MALE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario)  The East Algoma OPP received a call to attending a camp site at Gander Lake on May 25, 2013 at 10:01 a.m. in regards to a possible assault.

Police attended the area and through investigation, learned that the suspect and the victim had words regarding the treatment of a dog.  The suspect then allegedly assaulted the victim.

Police located and arrested the suspect.

Charged with the following is Sheldon RAHBERGER (29) of Elliot Lake.

  •           Possession of Cannabis Marihuana - under 30 grams
  •           Assault

The accused was also charged with being intoxicated in a public place.  He is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on July 2, 2013.

MALE ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT - Held For Bail Hearing

(Laird Twp., ON) On June 3, 2013 at approximately 1:00 am Sault Ste. Marie OPP responded to call regarding a female that needed assistance.

Investigation revealed that a female victim was at a residence when a male allegedly began making sexual advances at her. When the victim attempted to leave the residence, the male physically stopped her and threatened bodily harm.

The victim managed to make a cell phone call and contacted Police who immediately attended the scene.

As a result of OPP investigation fifty-two year old Christopher NIEMI of Laird Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with one count of Sexual Assault; Forcible Confinement; Uttering Threats; and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is being held in custody for a bail hearing today.
