Three Sault Ste Marie youths will appear in court next month after being found in possession of a stolen car over the weekend.

On Saturday 05 June 2004 officers from the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment were advised of three suspicious looking youths operating a vehicle on Echo Lake Road in Echo Bay. It was quickly determined that the vehicle they were operating was stolen. All three youth ranging in age from 14 to 17 were taken into custody. They will appear in court in early July.


DRINKING AND DRIVING

Garden River First Nation, Ont.,

A Laird Township man will face impaired driving charges after OPP officers noticed his poor driving abilities over the weekend.

On Sunday morning at about 2:30 a.m. officers were traveling on Hwy 17 in the Garden River First Nation Territory. They caught up to an eastbound pick up truck. The obvious inability of the driver to keep his vehicle in his own lane caught the attention of the officers.

The officers pulled the truck over and discovered the driver showed obvious signs that he had been drinking.

Breathalyser tests confirmed the officer’s suspicions and the driver has been charged with impaired driving.

Thirty seven year old Darrin SPRY of Laird Twp has been charged with Impaired Driving and will appear in court in early July.


REMOTE CAMP BREAK AND ENTER

Batchawana Station, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating a break and enter into a camp at Batchawana Station on the ACR rail line.

On Sunday 06 June 2004 the owner of the camp arrived to find the front door kicked in and property removed from the camp. Stolen from the camp owner is a generator, outboard motor and other camp related items.

The area is accessible by either ACR rail or by bush roads off of Hwy 17.
