SHOTS FIRED FROM HOUSE

Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to Goulais Mission early Friday night after a reports of people hearing four gunshots.
On Friday night at about 9:00 p.m. residents of Goulais Mission report hearing four shots in the area of Coulis Road and Goulais Mission Rd. Officers went to a home on Coulis Road in Goulais Mission and seized several rounds of spent ammunition and a high powered rifle.
The house was occupied by four highly intoxicated people and police are trying to determine who fired the shots. This investigation is still ongoing and so far no charges have been laid against any of the four occupants.
VANDALIZM IN SEARCHMONT
Searchmont, Ont.,
Residents of Searchmont are being asked to keep a close eye on their own Community Center after several reports of vandalism.
On Saturday, Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to the Community Center after a caretaker noticed extensive damage to the pay phone on the wall outside the center. Sometime since Wednesday of last week and Saturday morning, the phone had damaged. An examination of the area also found some minor damage to the entrance door of the community hall.
The caretaker also advised the police of several more incidents of minor damage to the exterior of the building over the past few weeks.
Sault Ste Marie OPP, as well as all Neighbourhood Watch programs, would like to would encourage anyone who sees anything out of the ordinary in your neighbourhood to call the police right away. You know who should and should not be hanging around on your street or near your community. One call to the police could prevent you and your neighbours property from being the next statistic on a crime sheet.
TEENAGE DRINKING AND DRIVING
Echo Bay, Ont.,
An early morning "booze cruise" has left an Echo Bay teenager with two hundred and twenty dollars in tickets.
At about 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning an officer from the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment stopped a car in Echo Bay after the car didn't stop for a stop sign. The 17-year-old male driver had been drinking and he was arrested for impaired driving.
He was taken back to the Sault where a breathalyzer test was conducted. The teen registered just under the legal limit and was issued a 12 hour drivers licence suspension to go with his two traffic tickets.
ASSAULT ENDS WITH BAIL COURT APPEARANCE
Searchmont, Ont.,
A Searchmont man will appear in bail court this afternoon after he assault a woman last night.
At about 7:00 p.m. last evening a woman reported to police that that she had been grabbed by the throat in her home. She fled the house with her nine-year-old daughter and drove to the police station.
A 47-year-old male resident of Searchmont was arrested and charged by police with assault on the woman. He will appear in bail court in Sault Ste. Marie later today.
In this circumstance, the name of the accused and the victim will not be released.
