A crash between two motorcycles on the weekend resulted in both drivers being sent to Sault Area Hospital by ambulance.

On Saturday night at about 11:30 p.m. emergency crews were notified of a crash on Old Hwy 17 near Mahler Road in Goulais River. So far the investigation is indicating that two motorcycles were traveling south on Old Hwy 17 when the two bikes came in contact with each other.

Both drivers were thrown from the motorcycles. One driver was taken from the scene unconscious. Both drivers have since been released from the hospital. The two male drivers are from Goulais River. The investigation is still ongoing to determine just how the two bikes came in contact with each other and other circumstances surrounding the crash.

TWO ANIMAL CRASHES EAST OF SAULT STE MARIE

Laird Township, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to two crashes on Saturday morning involving large animals on the highway.

At about 4:00 a.m. a vehicle was traveling on Hwy 17 in Laird Township when the vehicle struck a moose. There was minimal damage to the vehicle and it is believed that the moose fled into the bush.

At 6:00 a.m. the same morning, a vehicle was traveling on Hwy 17 in Garden River when the vehicle struck a deer. The deer was killed but the driver was able to drive the vehicle away.
