DRUNK SIXTEEN YEAR OLD ENDS UP IN BAIL COURT

A sixteen-year-old Batchawana First Nation youth will make a bail court appearance this afternoon after being found highly intoxicated over the weekend.

On Saturday morning at about 2:30 a.m. officers were attending to an unrelated matter when the drunken youth came to their attention.

Investigation revealed that the youth had already been released on bail on other unrelated criminal matters. Parts of his release conditions are not to consume alcohol.

He spent the night in police holding cells and the remainder of the weekend in a youth detention facility. He will appear in bail this afternoon to answer to these new charges.

THREE NABBED IN AFTERNOON R.I.D.E. CHECKS

A R.I.D.E check in the Goulais River area late Saturday afternoon obviously surprised three people.

Officers from the Traffic and Marine Unit set up a R.I.D.E. check on Pineshores Road at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. In 45 minutes they found one 12-hour suspension and two people drinking in their vehicles while driving.

All three left the R.I.D.E. check with the corresponding paperwork needed to remind them of their actions.


LAIRD TOWNSHIP BREAK AND ENTER

Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to a residential break and enter in Laird Twp over the weekend

On Sunday afternoon a home on Hillstrom Road was reported broken into. Sometime on Sunday between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. culprits entered the home and stole property from the house.

The homeowner is compiling a list of stolen items for police.
