DRUG SEARCH WARRANT EXECUTED

(Batchewana First Nation, ON) On Friday, the 31st October, 2008 at approximately 2:00 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau Drug Enforcement Section, Sault Ste. Marie Unit, with the assistance of the Batchewana First Nation Police Service, the Sault Ste. Marie OPP Detachment, the OPP Provincial Organized Crime Enforcement Team (POCET), the OPP Joint Forces Intelligence Unit and the OPP Canine Unit executed a warrant under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) at a residence on August St.

Police seized a quantity of marihuana, cocaine, and prescription drugs with a street value of approximately $400.00.

Lori ALTON, (38 yrs.), William LESAGE (41 yrs.), and Kevin ROBINSON (19 yrs.) of 81 August Street on the Batchewana First Nation were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

A male youth (16 yrs.) was also charged with the same offences.

All accused were arrested at scene and later released to appear in court on December 8th, 2008.


DRUG WARRANT EXECUTED

(Garden River, ON) On Saturday, the 1st November, 2008, at approximately 5:00 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau Drug Enforcement Section, Sault Ste. Marie Unit, with the assistance of the Anishnabek Police Service (Garden River Detachment), the Batchewana First Nation Police Service, the Sault Ste. Marie OPP Detachment, the OPP Provincial Organized Crime Enforcement Team (POCET), the OPPJoint Forces Intelligence Unit, and the OPP Canine Unit executed a warrant under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act at the residence on Eagle Street on the Garden River First Nation.

Police seized a quantity of Marihuana, Cannabis Resin (Hash Oil) with an estimated street value of $9,000.00.

A quantity of cash of also seized.

21 year old Bryan THIBEAULT of 84 Eagle Street was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

THIBEAULT was released on a Promise of Appear of court on the 24th November, 2008.


SEVERAL CAMPS BROKEN INTO NORTH OF SAULT STE. MARIE


(Kars Twp., ON) Six break-in’s to area camps were reported to O.P.P. over the weekend:

1) A camp on James Road in Kars Township was entered. A small window was pried opened and a pair of binoculars stolen.
2) A camp in the 1500 block of Mission Road was entered via a side window and suspects(s) rummaged through the camp. It does not appear that anything was taken.
3) Another camp in the 2000 block of Four Seasons Drive was entered by prying open a window and rummaging through the camp. Nothing was taken.
4) Three more camps on James Road were entered in the same manner, by prying open a window. One camp had a small quantity of alcohol stolen.


REPORTED STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED


(Fenwick Twp., ON)

On Saturday, November 1st, 2008 the O.P.P. were called to investigate the theft of a 1992 Chevy Blazer, green in color, from a residence in the 3000 block of Highway 17 North in Fenwick Township.

The vehicle had been stolen within the past two days. The keys were in the vehicle.

A short while later, Police received information that a vehicle matching that description was located approximately 9 km in on Old Goulais Bay Road by a person out on an ATV ride.

Further investigation revealed that it was the stolen vehicle.

(Tilley Twp., ON)

On Saturday, November 1st, 2008 at approximately 8:50 a.m. OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 North in Tilley Township.

The vehicle, a 2002 Ford Explorer was heading northbound on Highway 17 when the driver entered a curve, crossed the highway, overcorrected, and ended up in the ditch on the west side of the Highway.

There was moderate damage to the vehicle but the driver was not injured.

Charged with Fail to Drive in Marked Lane and Driving a Motor Vehicle without a Permit is 37 year old Kibtu TECEMARIAM of Windsor, Ontario.
