STOLEN VEHICLE RESULTS IN NUMEROUS CHARGES (Blind River, ON.) On November 28, 2009 officers from the Blind River OPP detachment received a report of a stolen Chrysler Intrepid from a residence in Spragge. At 11:50 p.m.
STOLEN VEHICLE RESULTS IN NUMEROUS CHARGES

(Blind River, ON.) On November 28, 2009 officers from the Blind River OPP detachment received a report of a stolen Chrysler Intrepid from a residence in Spragge. At 11:50 p.m. police located the stolen car on Causley St in Blind River. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver accelerated in an attempt to evade police. A short distance later while attempting to make a turn onto Village Road the vehicle left the roadway and struck a Hydro pole. The driver attempted to flee the scene on foot but was but was arrested by officers a short distance away. As a result of the investigation, 23 year old Timothy CAIBAIOSAI of Spragge has been charged with the following offences.

1) Exceeding 80 mgs of Alcohol Section 253(1)(b) Criminal Code
2) Impaired Operation Section 253(1)(a) Criminal Code
3) Breach of a Recognizance Section 811 Criminal Code
4) Flight from Police Section 249.1(1) Criminal Code
5) Theft of a Motor Vehicle under $5000.00 Section 334(b) Criminal Code
6) Drive motor vehicle no licence Section 32(1) Highway Traffic Act
7) Fail to Stop for Police Section 216 highway Traffic Act

As a result of the collision the vehicle required to be towed from the scene. CAIBAIOSAI is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing on Monday 30 November.

First Weekend of Festive RIDE Results In One Arrest

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) - If you choose to drink, choose not to drive. Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie OPP Detachment and their Policing Partners will be out for Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) at roadside checkpoints on local area roadways during the holiday season.

Sault Ste Marie Detachment and Highway Safety Division officers were actively engaged in RIDE this past weekend. RIDE was conducted in 10 separate locations. A total of 588 vehicles were checked resulting in one highway traffic act charge. During a Joint RIDE initiative with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service on November 28th at 11:59 p.m. on Second Line, one drinking Driver was arrested.

Charged with driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol is Larry Douglas Atkinson DOB 29 Nov 1958 of 350 Langdon Rd Sault Ste Marie

Cottage Break and Enter

A cottage property on Iron River Rd in MacDonald Township was broken into sometime between November 25-28th. Stolen from the property was a 2001 Skidoo Registration # 888345, 4500 Watt Honda Generator, Hummingbird Fish Finder, Ice auger, Red Cabella Rain Suite and a set of Snake Bite golf clubs. STUNT DRIVING HIGHWAY 129

(Chapleau, ON) – On November 27, 2009 at 6:20 pm Superior East officers in Chapleau were conducting traffic patrol on Highway 129, Dupuis Township approximately 10 kilometres south of Chapleau. Officers noted a northbound 1997 Grand Marquis rounding a curve at a high rate of speed. The speed of the vehicle was measured on RADAR at 137 kilometres in an 80 kilometre per hour zone. Upon stopping the vehicle the male driver was advised of the infraction and as a result of investigation, Jeannot BELAND age 47 of Chelmsford, Ontario stands charged with Stunt Driving and Speeding in excess of 50 kilometres over the speed limit. His vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for 7 days. Mr BELAND will appear in Chapleau court at a later date to answer to the charges.

R.I.D.E.

(Superior East) – Several RIDE checks throughout the Superior East patrol area resulted in over 625 vehicles being checked with no drinking and driving offences noted.

**UPDATE**

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On November 26, 2009 at approximately 7:52 p.m. during a routine traffic stop officers of the East Algoma OPP recovered stolen property from a Break Enter and Theft reported on November 25, 2009.

Charged is Lindsey Raquel O’BRIEN (25) of Elliot Lake. O’BRIEN is charged with the following:
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Breach of Probation

Also charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime is Derek Todd DOBRATZ (19) of Eliot Lake.

O’BRIEN and DOBRATZ remain in custody.

ARREST MADE - LOCAL MALE CHARGED

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) November 25, 2009 at approximately 5:08 p.m. officers of the East Algoma OPP attended a residence on Denison Rd in Elliot Lake regarding a possible break enter and theft.

On scene police learned that unknown person(s) had entered the residence between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. while the homeowner was away. Missing from the residence was a TV.

Today, November 26, 2009 with assistance of the Crime Unit, police arrested and charged a local male.

Charged with Break Enter and Theft is William Peter VINTINNER (18) of Elliot Lake. VINTINNER is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on January 5th, 2010.
