HOUSE RANSACKED-SAUNA BURNT

Goulais River, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating an incident from last week where a sauna building was burnt to the ground and a seasonal home entered and ransacked.

In the afternoon of Friday 27 October 2006 police were called to a seasonal home in the 1400 block of Havilland Shores Drive. Sometime over the past week the property was entered and the entire home ransacked. The culprits went through every room, closet and cupboard in the home. Furniture was moved around the interior of the house in what appears to be an attempt to locate property.

A separate building on the property housed a sauna and it was destroyed by fire. The ensuing fire melted most of the siding on the home. Thieves also forced their way into a storage shed on the property. It is not yet known what, if anything, has been removed from the camp. The owners are cleaning up and trying to determine what is missing.

Anyone who may have seen the flames from the burning sauna in the 1400 area of Havilland Shores Drive, or any other information on this crime is asked to call the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
