MALE FOUND SLEEPING ON SIDE OF HIGHWAY 17 - Multiple Charges Laid

(WAWA, ON) - On September 7, 2013 the Superior East Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a male laying on the roadway at the intersection of Highway 17 and 101 just south of Wawa.  OPP located the male sleeping on the fog line of the roadway just after 10:00 pm.  Officers detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the male and observed him to be unsteady on his feet.  Further investigation revealed that the male was currently on several probation orders with conditions that included abstaining from the consumption and possession of alcohol. 

As a result, 27-year-old Anthony CALHOUN of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code Offences;

1. Fail to Comply with Undertaking/Recognizance - 2 counts
2. Breach of Probation - 3 counts
3. Possession of Cannabis Marihuana

The accused was held for bail court in Sault Ste. Marie.

MOTOR VEHCILE COLLISION REPORTED

Injuries Reported

(Fenwick Township, ON) On Saturday September 7, 2013 OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Goulais Mission Road.

A small car struck a tree.

The eighty-two year old female driver was transported by ambulance to Sault area Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle had to be towed. No charges were laid.

STOLEN BOAT MOTOR

(Aweres Township, ON) Sault Ste. Marie OPP received a report of a stolen 15 hp mariner outboard boat motor from the rear of a boat parked in a driveway on Heyden Lake Road.

The theft occurred sometime between September 6th – 7th, 2013.

MALE ARRESTED FOR BREAK AND ENTER

(Batchewana First Nation, ON) On Saturday September 7, 2013 at 1:35 am Sault Ste. Marie OPP were dispatched to a burglar alarm at a business on Frontenac Street.

Upon OPP arrival a male was observed on the property.

As a result of further police investigation thirty-one year old Christopher Ian MOAR of Wellington Street East, Sault Ste. Marie Ontario was arrested and charged with one count of Break and Enter, one count of Breach of Recognizance and two counts of Mischief under the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is being held for a bail hearing this morning.

MALE CHARGED WITH BREACH

(WHITE RIVER, ON) - On September 7, 2013 the Superior East Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a male breaching his probation condition not to purchase/possess or consume alcohol.  As a result of police investigation, 58-year-old Terry JACOBS, of Pic Mobert was arrested at 5:47 pm and charged for breach of probation.  The accused was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Wawa Criminal Court on December 9, 2013.
