The Nipissing West OPP are being credited with helping rescue an injured baby moose.
On May 24, the OPP responded to an accident involving a tractor trailer and a young moose along Highway 17 in the region.
The OPP say the calf suffered from injuries but the OPP transported the young calf to a wildlife sanctuary that was able to help the injured mammal out.
The OPP say the animal seems to be recovering.
"The next day the young calf was up and walking around the secured facility with another calf," the OPP stated.
The OPP thanks the community for working together with them to come to a healthy resolution.
It is not the first time the OPP has had to address concerns with wildlife along Highway 17.
In April of 2020, Nipissing West OPP responded to nine collisions involving wildlife, so they are putting out a warning.
Those collisions involved either a deer, moose, or bear and occurred at all hours of the day but did not result in any injuries.
