OPP searching for more clues in fatal Manitoulin crash

53-year-old driver was killed in a single-vehicle collision on Aug. 18 in Robinson Township; police want to speak to anyone who may have interacted with the victim beforehand

Members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are requesting the public's assistance regarding a motor vehicle collision that occurred in Robinson Township on Manitoulin Island.

On Aug. 18, 2023 shortly after 12 a.m., the Manitoulin OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Silver Lake Road in Robinson Township.

The driver and only occupant of the vehicle, a 53-year-old person from Dawson Township, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the North East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team.

The Manitoulin OPP is seeking the public's assistance with information regarding the involved vehicle, being a silver Honda CRV, or any interactions with the driver of the vehicle, that may have been observed in Gore Bay, Meldrum Bay, or travelling along Highway 540 on Aug. 18, 2023.
