Police ask for public help after stolen truck found in Lake Huron

East Algoma OPP are asking for the public's help in relation to a truck theft that happened over the weekend.

In a release issued Wednesday, police say they responded to a call on Sunday at approximately 9:12 a.m. in regards to the theft of a pick-up truck that occurred sometime overnight at a hunt camp on 5th Side Road in St Joseph Township.  

On Friday, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the occupants went to their hunt camp to close it up for the winter. 

The next morning the owner of the pick-up woke up to find his 2002 black Chevrolet Silverado no longer parked in front of the trailer. The owner followed a set of ATV tracks to 5th Side Road where they were no longer visible.  

The Chevrolet Silverado had a plow on the front and a silver box in the rear of truck bed with two lock hitches. 

Both the driver and passenger windows were slightly rolled down and the driver's side door did not lock. 

The keys were left in a cup holder-front seat and the driver's seat set back.

Various tools, tree stumps and a case of Coors Light beer were in the bed of the truck while a cooler and clothing were left inside the pick-up.  

On Sunday, shortly after 9:30 a.m., OPP say they responded to a call pick-up truck that was submerged in Lake Huron located behind the LCBO on Richards Street in Town of Richards Landing.  

The pick-up was the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado that was stolen between 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 9:12 a.m. Sunday. It was facing northwest in the water with both front windows completely rolled down and the front driver's seat was moved slightly forward. 

The silver storage box in the bed of the truck was missing two yellow locks that the owner had attached. 

Wood was in the truck (four to five tree stumps) while the case of Coors Light cans was open. 

The pick-up also had damage to the front hood, driver's side running boards and rear tailgate.
