Sugar shack completely destroyed – not suspicious
 
(RYAN TOWNSHIP, ON) –  At 7:30 a.m. this morning Sault Ste. Marie OPP, Batchewana First Response and Goulais River First Response responded to a fire call at the Pancake Point Maple Products business, (also known as the sugar shack) located on highway 17 north, approximately 4 kilometres north of Pancake Bay Provincial Park.
 
The building and adjacent bunk house was completely destroyed.
 
There were no injuries.
 
At the time there was an intense lightening storm passing through the area.
 
The damaged is estimated at $250,000.
 
The fire is not deemed suspicious and the Office of the Fire Marshall will not be attending the scene.
