Cochrane, ON) On Friday June 28, 2013 at 4:15 pm OPP and MNR were conducting a joint patrol and observed a pickup truck drawing a trailer with no plate attached. The officers stopped the vehicle and upon an investigation the driver of the pick-up was found to be in possession of an over limit of fish. This lead to further investigation and search of the vehicle which resulted in a loaded 357 handgun and a quantity of a controlled substance was seized.
As a result of this joint investigation by the OPP and MNR a male has been charged with numerous offences. Charged is Ronald WHISSELL age 55 of Iroquois Falls, Ontario. He has been charged with the following offences.
- Possession of Controlled Substance under Section 4(1) of the controlled Drug and Substance Act.
- Carless Use of a Firearm Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of Firearm at Unauthorized Place contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
WHISSEL was arrested and transported to Cochrane OPP Detachment where he was later released on a Promise to Appear to attend court on August 19, 2013 to answer to the above charges.
