O.P.P. Stepping up patrols regarding School Bus Safety

Every day, over 800,000 Ontario students travel to school by school bus. Most injuries to school bus passengers occur as students are entering or leaving the bus, or crossing the street.

The Sault Ste Marie OPP Detachment is committed to keeping our children and community safe. Officers will be patrolling in unmarked cruisers next week paying specific attention to bus safety with a zero tolerance to offenders.
Motorists who fail to comply with the provincial bus safety laws will be fined. First offence penalties can be up to $2000 and six demerit points.

Drive safely this long weekend and remember that speed kills.
