Sault man accused of causing disturbance in Spanish

Police say they responded to a call of a family dispute shortly before 4 a.m.

SPANISH – East Algoma OPP say they've arrested a Sault Ste. Marie resident after an incident that took place in Spanish over the weekend. 

Police say they responded to a call shortly after 3:45 a.m. Saturday morning of a family dispute where an individual was allegedly yelling and punching things at a residence on Front Street in the Town of Spanish.  

Police arrived on scene at approximately 4:22 a.m., where they were told that the individual had left. The OPP Emergency Response Team and the Northeast Region OPP Canine Unit were called in to help find the individual.  

Shortly after 7 a.m., police located the individual and further investigation indicated that the person appeared to be under the influence of drugs. 

The individual was then taken to hospital in Blind River before being turned over to police for arrest.

As a result, Jason Carrine, 42, from Sault Ste Marie, was arrested and charged with:  

  • Three counts of failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);  
  • Three counts of fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC; and with  
  • Causing a disturbance - non occupant, contrary to section 175(1)(d) of the CC.
