A Sault Ste. Marie resident is facing impaired driving charges after the SUV they were driving ended up in a ditch in Elliot Lake.
Just before 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 7, Ontario Provincial Police were told a black SUV was “all over the road and tailgating” on Highway 17 in the Township of the North Shore.
Police say the vehicle then headed north on Highway 108, and soon after, OPP were told the black SUV had gone into a ditch south of Nordic Mine Road in Elliot Lake.
Investigators believe the driver hit the gravel shoulder before crashing and they say the airbags deployed.
Kelsey Odber, 36, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
In addition, the driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for a week.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
