ATIKOKAN — A man caught speeding on Highway 11 told police he was driving fast because he was tired and it was hot out.

According to OPP, his vehicle was tracked on radar on Friday doing 148 km/h in a 90 km/h stretch between Atikokan and Fort Frances.

His ill-advised decision to beat the heat by speeding will cost him dearly.

In addition to having his licence suspended for stunt driving, police estimated the tow truck charge at $600, the cost of a cab ride home at $650, the 14-day vehicle impoundment fee at $980, and the MTO reinstatement fee at $500.
