Sault driver charged with stunt driving near Parry Sound

His licence was suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was operating has been impounded for seven days

PARRY SOUND - On Feb. 23, 2018 a member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 69 in Britt Township, Ont.

At approximately 6:11 p.m. a north bound vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. As a result the vehicle was stopped for stunt driving.

The driver, Omar Amurbaeei, 23 years of age from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., was arrested and charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA).

The driver was served a summons requiring him to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, Ont. on April 24, 2018. His licence was suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was operating has been impounded for seven days.

Every person convicted of race a motor vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both. In addition to his or her driver's licence being suspended and the vehicle they were operating being impounded for seven days.
