Snowmachine Accident Claims Life of 39 year old male
Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the OPP were dispatched to a fatal snowmachine accident approximately 40 Kms north east of Sault Ste. Marie on Lewis Rd. in Whitman Township late Saturday evening. Investigation so far reveals that two males were traveling on Lewis Rd. next to Devil’s Lake on their respective snowmachines around 11:30 PM when one machine left the road striking a tree killing the operator. Neighboring cottagers, Searchmont 1st responders and Sault Ambulance attended and were unable to revive the male.
A Technical Accident investigator from the OPP has attended the scene to assist with the investigation.
The name of the deceased will not be released pending notification of next of kin. Investigation is continuing.
