ONCE AGAIN R.I.D.E. CHECKS PROVE SUCCESSFUL

Goulais River, Ont.,

Members of the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit based out of Sault Ste Marie once again removed another impaired driver off our roadways

Last night at about midnight officers from the Traffic and Marine Unit were conducting R.I.D.E. at the intersection of Hwy 552 West and Old Goulais Bay Rd in Goulais River. A man approached the checkpoint and was quickly questioned by the officers. The driver denied drinking but the officers could smell alcohol on his breath.

A roadside breath test indicated that the man was drinking and he was taken back to the police station for a Breathalyser test. He failed the Breathalyser tests and has been charged.

Sixty one year old Lorne BELKOSKY of Goulais River has been charged with Operating a Vehicle while over .08. His driver’s licence has been suspended for the next 90 days and he will appear in Sault Ste Marie courts in about a month to answer to the charges.
