HIGHWAY 17 CLOSURE NORTH OF WAWA

(WAWA, ON) – Further to our previous media release regarding closure of Highway 17 south to Batchewana/Sault Ste Marie area. (Both directions). Highway 17 north of Wawa to White River is now closed in both directions as well due to severe weather conditions and motor vehicle collisions. There are no detours and further details will be released as conditions change.

HIGHWAY 17 CLOSURE SOUTH OF WAWA

(WAWA, ON) – Superior East OPP at Wawa are advising the public that Highway 17 South is now closed between Wawa and Sault Ste Marie due to severe weather conditions. It is also reported that hills on Highway 17 south of Wawa are blocked by a number of tractor trailer units. Highway 101 east of Wawa, although not closed at this time, is also quite slippery due to weather. There are no detours around the Highway 17 closure and it is unknown at this time when the highway will be re-opened. Further details will be forthcoming as conditions improve.

BREAK AND ENTER TO SHED

(Bruce Mines, ON.) – On April 7, 2010 at approximately 2:45 p.m. the East Algoma Thessalon OPP were contacted regarding a break and enter to a shed on Quincy Street, Bruce Mines, Ontario.

The break and enter occurred sometime between March 25 – 31, 2010.

Various items were stolen in the break and enter including:

• General generator – 5000 watt
• Honda pressure washer
• 5.0 H.P. log splitter
• 8.0 H.P. Craftsman air compressor
• Hobart 140 mig welder
• 34 c.c. Poulan chain saw
• Dewalt compound mitre saw
• Dewalt 4 piece tool kit
• Dewalt portable planer
• Makita circular saw
• Skill gas pack blower and
• Skill gas lawn trimmer

The estimated value of the items stolen is $4947.00. The damage to the door is estimated at $20.00.
