(Blind River, Ontario) July 29th, 2009 police received information that a sailboat may be stuck on a sand bar at 4 Sands Beach in Blind River. On scene police noted a sailboat stuck approximately 600 feet from the shore.

Police spoke with the lone driver and through investigation the driver was charged.

Charged with the following is Peter HATTON (67) of Echo Bay.

Impaired Operation/Vessel
Exceed 80 Milligrams/Vessel

HATTON is scheduled to appear in Blind River court on October 8, 2009.

STUNT DRIVING CHARGE, VEHICLE IMPOUNDED AND LICENCE SUSPENDED...

(Blind River, Ontario) On July 30th, 2009 officers of the East Algoma OPP were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 17.

At approximately 4:10 p.m. police noted a motorcycle on Highway 17, which appeared to be travelling at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle entered the radar beam at a speed of 164 km in a 90 km zone.

Charged with Race Motor vehicle of the Highway Traffic Act is Cameron NORRIS (60) of BATTERSEA, Ontario. NORRIS is scheduled to appear in Blind River Court on September 2, 2009.

The motorcycle was impounded for seven days and was the drivers licence was seized and suspended for 7 days.

GPS STOLEN FROM UNLOCKED VEHICLE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) Between the hours of 6:00 p.m. August 2, 2009 and 12:00 p.m. August 4, 2009 unknown persons entered an unlocked vehicle on Washington Crescent in Elliot Lake and removed a TOM TOM GPS and three music cd’s.

Anyone with information regarding the above theft is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police would like to remind all citizens to ensure your vehicle is locked and to double check before leaving your vehicle unattended.
