Echo Bay, Ont. - Police were called to Echo Bay early this morning after a homeowner saw several youths trying to break into his garage. At about 1 a.m.
Echo Bay, Ont. - Police were called to Echo Bay early this morning after a homeowner saw several youths trying to break into his garage.
At about 1 a.m. the homeowner on Church Street in Echo Bay saw five teenage male youths trying to break into his garage.
As the homeowner came out to confront the five, they fled on foot down Church Street toward Highway 17.
The five manage to disappear into the night and police were called.
Officers scoured the area but were unable to locate any of the five suspects.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving is asking Canadians to visit their local participating KFC this Thursday, December 16 for 'MADD Day.'
On this day, KFC will donate 50 cents to MADD Canada for every fresh salad sold.
Also, with a donation of one dollar to MADD Canada, Canadians will be participating in a very important public awareness campaign for responsible driving throughout the holiday season.
MADD Canada has partnered with KFC/Priszm Canadian Income Fund and Corus Entertainment to raise the public's awareness to new heights regarding the importance of driving responsibly at this busy and social time of year.

Last evening a 22-year old male turned himself into City Police in relation to a fight that occurred on the 11th of December in the City’s east end.
On that date shortly before 2 a.m. the accused got into a fight with another male.
During the fight the victim got the upper hand and at that time it is alleged that the accused took out a penknife and stabbed the victim in the face repeatedly.
The accused fled the scene.
The victim received injuries to his face however medical treatment was not sought at the time.
The accused was also on probation at the time with conditions not to possess any weapons.
22-year old Justin Lewis of 58 Gibb Street has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of breach of probation.
He will appear in bail court this morning.

(Sudbury, ON) Officers of the Sudbury and Espanola Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 6:00pm on Highway 17, three kilometers west of Nairn Centre. The collision involves two tractor-trailer units, and three passenger vehicles. One person has died as a result of the collision. Two other people have been brought to Espanola General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

OPP technical traffic collision investigators and the OPP identification unit are on scene. Highway 17 is expected to be closed until early morning while the investigation continues. There is no detour available to traffic traveling on Highway 17.
