DRIVER CHARGED IN MOTOR VEHCILE COLLISION (Aweres Twp., ON) – Sault Ste. Marie OPP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 556 near Bellevue Valley Road yesterday afternoon at 4:30 pm.

DRIVER CHARGED IN MOTOR VEHCILE COLLISION

(Aweres Twp., ON)Sault Ste. Marie OPP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 556 near Bellevue Valley Road yesterday afternoon at 4:30 pm. A white Ford pickup was upside down on its roof.

Witnesses at the scene told Police that the driver had left.  Further investigation located the driver at his residence.

31 year old Kenneth MOULTON of Highway 552 Goulais River was arrested and charged with Fail to Remain at the Scene of an accident and Class G1 licence holder with B.A.C. above zero under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The accused was released on a summons to appear for court on March 21, 2012.

IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED

(Batchewana First Nation, ON)At 12:20 am this morning OPP were called to attend a residence on Gran St. regarding a suspicious person on a four wheeler in the rear of the property.

Upon arrival, officers observed a male on a red four wheeler reving the engine and spinning the tires at the rear of the property.

Upon further Police investigation, the driver was unsteady on his feet, had an odour of an alcoholic beverage detected on his breath, slurred speech and red glossy eyes.

40 year old Charles Martin MCKAY of Mission Road on the Batchewana First Nation was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for Provincial Court in Sault Ste. Marie on March 26, 2012.
