MANITOULIN OPP SEARCH FOR MISSING MALE

(Little Current, Ont.) – On Wednesday evening at 9:30 pm on the 01 Feb 06 Manitoulin OPP were notified by Durham Regional Police that they were searching for a 48 year old male who went missing in the Durham area and is believed to be heading to the Manitoulin area. Manitoulin OPP were asked to keep observation for a Grey 1992 Chevrolet Pick Up truck, which was being operated by the male.

At 3:15 am on Thursday 02 Feb 06 while OPP Officers were on patrol of Little Current they observed a Grey Pick up truck parked at the entrance to the Manitoulin Tourist Information Booth near the swing bridge in Little Current. Upon closer checks it was the same vehicle reported missing by Durham Regional Police. The truck was empty and no signs of the driver. Officers then started to conduct a search of the area.

Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team, Underwater Search & Recovery Unit, and the OPP Helicopter have been called in to assist.

Second Armed Robber at Batchewana First Nation Gas Bat

Members of the Batchawana First Nation Police are investigating a second robbery at a gas bar in the First Nation Community.

Last night at about 11: 00 p.m. two males wearing disguises and armed with knives entered the gas bar and confronted the attendant. The two escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

A stolen van believed to be used in the robbery was located nearby in the east end of the city. Officers with the Batchawana First Nation Police, Sault Ste Marie OPP and the Sault Ste Marie City Police are continuing the investigation into this robbery.

Four Hearst Residents Charged With Drug Offences

(HEARST, ON) On the 02nd of February 2006, a joint drug investigation conducted by members of Project Northern Gateway (an O.P.P. Drug Enforcement Section lead initiative), and members of the Hearst Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, resulted in the arrest of four Hearst residents. At approximately 5:30 P.M a search warrant was executed at a Prince Street in the Town of Hearst. The search of the residence resulted in the seizure of cannabis marijuana, cannabis resin, cocaine, and approximately $2000.00 in Canadian Currency. Upon execution of the search warrant, police also located a cannabis marijuana grow operation in the basement of the residence.

The controlled substances seized have a potential street value of approximately $31,000.00. The property seized has a value of approximately $2000.00.

The accused Jean Pitre of 61 Rose St. will be charged with 1 count of possesion of a controlled substance. The other three assailants; Richard Boucher, Jeremy Boucher and Julie Macameau of 316 Prince st. are also being charged with 1 count of possesion of a controlled substance as well as 1 count of controlled substance Cannius Marijuana for the purpose of trafficking; and 1 count of possesion of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. All assailants will also be charged with once count of production of a controlled substance - cannabis marijuana.

The accused Jean Pitre, Richard Boucher and Jeremy Boucher are to appear in court March 6, 2006. Where Julie Macameau will not appear in court until November 22, 2006.
