SNOWMOBILE CRACKDOWN
Sault Ste Marie, Ont.,

The OPP Traffic and Marine Unit, stationed at the Sault Ste Marie detachment, was once again out on patrol of the area snow machine trails yesterday.

One of the more obvious violations they discovered was a 49-year-old man operating his snow machine far over the posted speed limit on an OFSC Trail.

The officers were conducting radar patrol and they clocked 49-year-old Adrian Winterton, of Greenwood Ontario, traveling at 130 km/h on the trail. The speed limit on all trails is 50 km/h.

With excessive speed, alcohol consumption or the combination of both the leading cause of snow machine deaths in Ontario, the men and woman of the OPP will continue to patrol the snow machine trails in our attempt to keep the majority of law abiding and safety conscience snow machine operators safe from the few who decide to endanger the lives of others.
