RESULTS OF POST MORTEM

(Aweres Twp., ON) – a post mortem conducted this morning at Sault Area Hospital indicated that the cause of death for 67 year old Paul Palahnuk was attributed to a medical condition and not the motor vehicle collision.

This concludes OPP investigation.

NAME OF VICTIM RELEASED

(Aweres Twp., ON) – The male driver has been identified from yesterday’s single motor vehicle investigation on Highway 17 in Aweres Township.

Deceased is 67 year old Paul Palahnuk of 61 Hare Street in Sault Ste. Marie.

The post mortem has been set for 9:30 am this morning at Sault Area Hospital.

BREAK AND ENTER REPORTED

(Aweres Twp., ON) – A residence in the 100 block of Fisher Trailer Park was broken into sometime during the day yesterday via the patio door.

Stolen items include an XBOX 360 along with 8 games and 40 DVD movies.

VEHICLE STOP FOR SPEEDING LEADS TO SEVERAL CHARGES

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) - An OPP officer on patrol at 2:20 am this morning observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 17 and pulled the vehicle over. Numerous other offences were observed.

The driver, 21 year old Shawn Edward WIEGAND of 909 Bonney St. in Sault Ste. Marie was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Speeding, Failing to Surrender a Permit for the Motor Vehicle, and Using Plates Not Authorized for the Vehicle.

WIEGAND was also charged with Failing To Have an Insurance Card contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act of Ontario.

The vehicle was towed and licence plates seized.

MISCHIEF CAUSES WATER DAMAGE AT LOCAL APARTMENT BUILDING

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) Police are requesting the assistance of the public regarding a report of a mischief.

Investigation revealed that between January 27, 2009 at 11:00 p.m. and January 28, 2009 at 5:30 a.m. unknown person(s) attended the third floor of an apartment building at 22 Mississauga Avenue. The culprit(s) turned the water valve of the fire hose mounted on a wall. This caused pressure to build up and activated the release of the valve thus releasing water. The water pooled onto the 3rd floor hallway then onto the 2nd floor and onto the 1st floor. The water damage appears to be extensive. The cost of the damage is not known at this time.
