Murder Charges Laid

( Kirkland Lake, Ontario ) First Degree murder charges have been laid in relation to the investigation into the death of 42 year old Serge Lefebvre. Mr. Lefebvre was fatally shot outside of his Kirkland Lake, Ontario home on the night of October 18th, 2004. Two males were previously charged with conspiracy to commit murder and they have now been charged with First Degree Murder. Charged are Lawrence Burns aged 33 of Kirkland Lake, Ontario and Andre Lapointe aged 32 of Kirkland Lake, Ontario. The two have also been further charged with being part of a Criminal Organization and Instructing persons to commit offences for the benefit of the Criminal Organization.

Further charges have also been laid in relation to this investigation. Dean Dubuc aged 34 of Timmins, Ontario, Robert Alexander aged 24 of Timmins, Ontario, and Guy Martel aged 27 of Orleans, Ontario have all been charged with Break, Enter and Committing Assault with a Weapon and Commission of an Offence for Criminal Organization. An arrest warrant has been issued for a fourth male in relation to these matters. These charges stem from the July 22nd 2004 home invasion style beating that occurred at a Kirkland Lake residence.

A further charge of Posession of Property Obtained by Crime has also been laid against Ginette Burns aged 33 of Redbridge, Ontario.

Alarms Do Help

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP attended a local business on December 27th, 2005 regarding a possible break and enter.

On scene police learned that the suspect had been located in the business by the owner. The owner had responded to a private alarm at his business.

Charged with Break and Enter is Marc Louis PETIT (49) of Elliot Lake. PETIT is scheduled to appear in court on February 7th, 2006.

Investigation completed.

Counterfeit $20 Surfaces In Elliot Lake

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On December 28th, 2005 police attended a local bank in regards to a possible counterfeit bank note.

The single bank note is a $20.00 bill bearing serial # ACP4271385. The note was discovered while processing a night deposit.

A check confirmed the $20.00 bill to be counterfeit.

Investigation continuing.
