2 Boaters Rescued from Lake Superior (Wawa, Ontario) On Wednesday July 11th Superior East OPP, Wawa were notified of 2 boaters that were overdue to return off Lake Superior.

(Wawa, Ontario) On Wednesday July 11th Superior East OPP, Wawa were notified of 2 boaters that were overdue to return off Lake Superior. 69 year old Glynn Rouse of Goulais River and 37 year old Efren Gallardo of Kettleby had left Buck’s Marina in Wawa on Tuesday for a day trip to Brule Harbour, 14 kilometers South of the marina in a 16 foot Crestliner boat. They encountered motor problems due to the weather conditions and docked at Brule Harbour.
At 2:30pm Wednesday, OPP were called. RCC Search and Rescue of Trenton and Canadian Coast Guard were notified. At 5:30PM, RCC dropped 2 rescuers by parachute to stay with the boaters until assistance arrived.
Sault Ste Marie OPP Marine Unit patrolled through rough water to reach them and brought them safely to the Marina in the early evening. The disabled boat was left at Brule Harbour to be retrieved when the weather improves.


DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

(Bruce Mines, Ontario) On Wednesday July 11, 2007 at approximately 2:45 pm a member of the East Algoma OPP stopped a motor vehicle that was traveling on Cunningham Street, Bruce Mines, Ontario.

The driver Ronald TAYLOR (54) of Aberdeen Township has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Over 80 mgs

TAYLOR also faces a charge of “Drive While Under Suspension” under the Highway Traffic Act.

TAYLOR was released on a Promise to Appear in Thessalon Court on September 27, 2007.
