ASSAULT Yesterday at 5pm, police responded to an assault on August Street, Batchawana First Nation (Rankin). An intoxicated woman walked into a neighbour’s residence and struck her in the face then departed prior to police arriving.

Yesterday at 5pm, police responded to an assault on August Street, Batchawana First Nation (Rankin). An intoxicated woman walked into a neighbour’s residence and struck her in the face then departed prior to police arriving. The victim did not require medical treatment.


TRANSPORT BECOMES AIRBORNE
(Iron Bridge, Ontario)

Yesterday at 1:45 p.m., the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP was advised of a transport accident on Highway 17, approximately five kilometers west of Iron Bridge, Ontario.

The transport was travelling westbound on Highway 17 when the front right wheel hit the soft shoulder.

The driver lost control and hit the north side ditch.

The transport hit a driveway abutment that entered onto Highway 17 causing the transport to become airborne for approximately 75 feet before landing.

The driver Kenneth Albrecht, age 61, of New Hamburg, Ontario, has been charged with failing to drive in marked lane under the Highway Traffic Act.

There were no injuries.

The tractor was demolished.

The trailer sustained minor damage.

Highway 17 was closed for approximately 45 minutes while the tractor- trailer was removed.
