A car/moose collision at the bottom of the mile hill resulted in minor injuries to a local woman and fatal injuries for a moose. At 10:30 p.m. yesterday, a Sault Ste. Marie couple were southbound on Highway 17 when a moose wandered onto the roadway from the west side. The car was severely damaged in the collision.

Forest insects are voracious at this time of the year and the moose tend to head for the highway to gain respite from the onslaught.
