Long Weekend Traffic Enforcement

Sault Ste Marie Detachment and Traffic and Marine unit officers issued 157 traffic tickets over the long weekend. Charges ranged from speeding to failure to produce evidence of insurance. In keeping with the OPP’s ongoing efforts to reduce the carnage on our roads officers will continue their aggressive traffic enforcement of those violations that lead to accidents.

Marine Patrols

The Sault Ste Marie OPP marine unit have begun their summer patrols. This Unit was out for the Canada Day and American Independence Day fire works on the St Maries River. The Marine unit officers wish to remind all boaters that there will be a zero tolerance stance for any safety equipment violation or drinking offences on our waterways. Marine deaths that do occur across the province usually involve alcohol and the failure to wear a life jacket.
