STAY OFF THE BEACH
Harmony Beach, Ont.,

The warm weather has finally arrived in the Sault Ste Marie and surrounding area and with the weather brings a few extra concerns for policing in the area.

One of these concerns is a problem that the full-time residents of Harmony Beach, north of Sault Ste Marie, experience every year. The beach is a favorite swimming and tanning location for many sun worshipers in this area.

There are very few people that insist on driving their cars, pick up trucks, vans or ATV on the beach. This area is posted by the Ministry of Natural Recourses. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the beach. Most of the beach area has a very fragile vegetation growth. Because this type of grass takes a very long time to grow, the naturalist in the area value this vegetation.

The second reason for not allowing the vehicles on the beach is the large number of people that are usually laying and sitting on this natural play ground enjoying the beauty of it all.
