(WHITE RIVER, ON) – On June 27, 2012 at 1:48 pm Ontario Provincial Police Superior East White River Detachment were advised to keep observation for a silver Ford pickup truck.  It was reported that the vehicle had left White River and was being driven by a suspended driver with out vehicle insurance and that there were no plates on the truck.  The vehicle was located on Highway 17 south bound in the Lalibert Township and was subsequently stopped.  The OPP officer detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver.

As a result the driver, 40 year old John MORRIN of Sault Ste Marie, ON was arrested and charged with the following offences;

1.  Exceed 80 milligrams of Blood/Alcohol Content – Criminal Code of Canada
2.  Possession Property Obtained by Crime – Criminal Code of Canada
3.  Drive While Under Suspension – Highway Traffic Act
4.  Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance – Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused was later released and is scheduled to appear in Wawa Criminal Court on August 13 and Provincial Offences Court on August 16.

(Aweres Twp., ON) – On Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at approximately 1:30 am OPP, Aweres Fire and Rescue and Sault Area Ambulance responded to call for assistance in a bush area off of Pruce Road in Aweres Township.

Approximately 75 youths were in attendance at an outdoor graduation party when one of the males (18 years old) became unconscious for over an hour and began vomiting as result of alcohol consumption. 

Aweres First Response was the first to attend the area and remove the youth by ATV to the roadway.

A vehicle window was smashed and an Ipod touch was also stolen and a purse.

OPP remind young graduates that you can have fun but don’t get carried away.   Make smart choices, it could cost you your life! 

LOCAL OPP INCREASE ENFORCEMENT

Driving Complaints on Highway 563

(Fisher Township, ON) – The Canada Day long weekend is fast approaching and the Sault Ste. Marie OPP will be targeting local roadways, waterways and trails.

Several complaints have been received regarding driving behaviour on Highway 563 in Fisher Township.

Last weekend a serious motor vehicle collision occurred on that Highway involving several youths that could have ended in more tragic results.

Those who drive aggressively or distracted, not wearing seatbelts, impaired by alcohol or drugs and drive while under suspension or disqualified all contribute to senseless fatalities and injuries.  

The safety of everyone on our roadways, waterways and trails is a number one priority.

TWO BREAK AND ENTERS REPORTED

(Havilland Twp., ON) – A break-in was reported to a residence in the 100 block of Harmony Beach Road in Havilland Township that occurred on Tuesday, 26 June 2012. 

The front door was kicked in and several items were stolen including two jewellery boxes, three watches, two cash boxes, three Canadian Tire gift cards worth $100 each and an undisclosed amount of cash.

(Fisher Twp., ON) – A break-in was reported to a residence in the 1000 block of Mission Road in Fisher Township within the past two weeks.

A satellite receiver was stolen.
