BREAK AND ENTER TO BUSINESS (Thessalon, ON.) – On May 30, 2010 shortly before 5:00 p.m. the East Algoma Thessalon OPP were contacted regarding a break and enter to a business located on River Street, Thessalon, Ontario.
BREAK AND ENTER TO BUSINESS

(Thessalon, ON.) – On May 30, 2010 shortly before 5:00 p.m. the East Algoma Thessalon OPP were contacted regarding a break and enter to a business located on River Street, Thessalon, Ontario.

The break and enter occurred sometime between Saturday May 29th at 1:00 p.m. and Sunday May 30th at 4:43 p.m.

Suspects broke two windows to gain entry to the business. The cost to replace the window is approximately $1000.

Nothing was taken in the break and enter.


BREAK AND ENTER TO SHED

(Johnson Township, ON.) – On May 29, 2010 at approximately 2:00 p.m. the East Algoma Thessalon OPP received a complaint regarding a break and enter to a shed located on Diamond Lake Road, Johnson Township (north of Desbarats, Ontario)

The break and enter occurred sometime between April 4 – May 24, 2010.

A Coleman Generator 2500 h.p. and a Craftsman Chainsaw were stolen in the break and enter. The value of the stolen items is $600.00.

DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

(Johnson Township, ON.) – On May 30, 2010 at approximately 2:45 a.m. while officers were conducting patrols, a motor vehicle was stopped on McClelland Road, Johnson Township.

The driver, German ARCHIBALD (19) of Sault Ste. Marie was charged under the Criminal Code with Impaired and Over 80 mgs.

ARCHIBALD was released on a Promise to Appear in Thessalon Court on July 8, 2010.

ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG ARRESTS

(Aweres Twp., ON) – At approximately 3:30 am this morning an OPP officer stopped a car travelling southbound on Highway 17 in Aweres Township.

Police located a small quantity of marijuana in the vehicle along with drug paraphernalia.

Arrested and charged with Possession of a Narcotic are18 year old Alex Girard of Shefford, Quebec and 19 year old Oliver Lauzon of Granby, Quebec.

Both males were released to appear in court on August 9th, 2010.

THREE VEHICLE COLLISION SENDS ONE WOMAN TO HOSPITAL

(Laird Twp., ON) – Yesterday at 5:26 pm OPP were dispatched to a three vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 17 and Bar River Road in Laird Township.

A 2002 Cavalier being driven by a female driver pulled out of the intersection onto Highway 17 striking an eastbound SUV which then struck a second vehicle also travelling eastbound.

The female driver was transported to Sault Area Hospital with serious injuries.

All three vehicles were demolished and had to be towed.

The collision is still under investigation.

Single Motor Vehicle Rollover Collision in Prince Township

City Police were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Prince Lake Road in Prince Township last evening that occurred at approximately 6:03 pm. It is alleged that the driver of a 1994 Dodge Dakota pickup that was travelling northbound on Prince Lake Road, lost control of the vehicle and skidded into the ditch,. The truck then struck a tree, flipped over and caught on fire. Two trees and a small amount of brush also caught fire and Fire Services attended on scene and extinguished it. There were no injuries reported to the driver or the male passenger in the vehicle at the time. The vehicle was destroyed. As a result, the driver, 22 year-old Gavin Pringle of 5 Prince Lake Road was charged with one count of careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

**Update**

The canoe has been located and returned to it’s owner.

DARK GREEN FIBRE GLASS CANOE MISSING

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP are currently investigating the theft of a canoe on Panel Mine Road at the Seniors Citizen Park.

The victim reports that sometime between May 24, 2010 and May 30, 2010 unknown person(s) attended his camp site #22 at the Seniors Park and removed his dark green fibre glass, 2 X 6 “ boards on stern transom, web seats canoe. Also missing are two paddles.

DON’T BE FOOLED!

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP is currently investigating a Fraud that was initiated through email.

The victim reported to police that sometime in April 2010 he received an email stating that he was the beneficiary of a deceased person. In order to receive his monies a cheque was forwarded to the complainant and upon accepting the cheque the victim was to forward $7,300.00 for legal fees. The cheque was received by the complainant and deposited. The complainant forwarded no money. Subsequently the bank advised the victim that the cheque was of no value.

Police caution citizens that if it sounds to good to be true, double check and get some legal advise to ensure the information received is true.

ONE CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On June 1, 2010 at approximately 18:29 officers of the East Algoma OPP were called to attend the area of 147 Mississauga Avenue in Elliot Lake regarding a possible assault in progress.

On scene police learned that the subject had contacted the victim and had arranged a meeting. When both parties met, the subject allegedly assaulted the victim.

When police arrived on the scene the subject was no longer in the area.

At approximately 9:20 p.m. police located the subject on Hillside Drive South where he was arrested and later charged.

Charged with Assault is Gerard HINKS (20) of Elliot Lake. HINKS is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on August 10, 2010.
