DRUG CHARGES LAID IN CHAPLEAU

CHAPLEAU - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau Drug Enforcement Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team (ERT) along with members of the Ontario Provincial Police Chapleau detachment have charged a man and woman with drug offences. The charges stem from the investigation of illegal drug related activities in the Chapleau area. It culminated with the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Connaught Street in Chapleau.

Seized as a result of the search were marihuana, Oxycodone, money and drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $2450. The incident occurred at approximately 3:05 pm on March 7, 2014.

Charged is Calvin Lecuyer Jr., age 26, of Chapleau with two counts Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Production of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing in Timmins, Ontario.

Also charged is Lindsay Simpson, age 31, of Chapleau with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Production of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Chapleau on April 16, 2014.

DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

WHITE RIVER - On March 12, 2014 at 11:50 pm officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East White River Detachment were advised of a traffic complaint concerning a slow moving vehicle on Highway 17 just west of White River.

A black Cadillac was observed driving well below the posted 90 km/hr speed limit and was stopped by police. Investigation by the officer led to the arrest of the driver, 47-year-old Chone Maracle of St Catharines, Ontario.

The accused stands charged with Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood and Driving While under Suspension. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Wawa Criminal Court on April 14, 2014.
