On Monday, May 13, Sault Ste Marie OPP published a media release looking for "Marty" who was involved in a rescue in the Goulais River.

Because of the cooperation of all the representatives in the media we have located Marty. He has been identified as Mr. Marty Reed of Sault Ste Marie. His name was called in to the OPP by two different people. Mr. Reed lives in Sault Ste Marie and works at the G-P Flakeboard Plant in Sault Ste Marie. He does own a red SUV.

All three parties involved in the rescue have been nominated for awards. With thanks to all members of the media, a heroic act of bravery can be acknowledged and recognized.
