(Goulais River, Ont.) Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to Havilland Shores Drive in Goulais River yesterday after a bear was reported on the back deck of a home.

At about 11:00 a.m. yesterday morning a resident of the 1700 area of Havilland Shores Drive saw a bear on the back deck of their home. The animal was eating garbage that was stored in a container on the deck.

When police arrived a bear was seen running from the area. Bear traps have been set by the MNR in the area prior to this call.

ANOTHER SUSPENDED DRIVER FOUND DRIVING

(Garden River First Nation, Ont.) A member of the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit found yet another driver operating a vehicle when they were under suspension

Yesterday at about 12:30 p.m. the officer saw a motorcycle traveling on Hwy 17 in Garden River with no licence plate on the bike. The motorcycle was pulled over and it was determined that the driver did not have a drivers licence because it has been suspended. And to add to his legal dilemma the bike did not have any insurance

Forty one (41) year old Dino Stefan POLSINELLI of Hwy 17 in Garden River has been charged with Driving While Under Suspension Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Driving With No Insurance Contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. He will appear in court on June 27 2007

WE FOUND A CANOE—IS IT YOURS ???

(Batchawana, Ont.) Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to Hwy 17 in Batchawana after a resident in that area found a canoe washed up on shore.

On Tuesday afternoon the property owner found the canoe on the shore near his home. It appears that the canoe has drifted off from an unknown location because all the contents inside the canoe are still intact and in place.

If you are missing a canoe you can call the OPP in Sault Ste Marie and if you can identify the vessel to the satisfaction of the police, we will be more than happy to let you know where we are storing your canoe.

LOOK WHAT ELSE WAS TURNED INTO US

(Pancake Bay, Ont.) A Ministry of Transportation employee found a large bag of clothing on the side of the roadway and has turned it over to us.

A large black duffle bag full of clothing was found along side of the roadway in the area of Pancake Bay. If you’re missing a lot of clothes we have them at the Sault Ste Marie OPP office.

ONE CHARGED IN AFTERNOON CRASH

(Garden River First Nation, Ont.) One person was charged after a crash yesterday afternoon on Hwy 17 in Garden River.

At about 4:00 p.m. yesterday a line of traffic was traveling westbound on Hwy 17 in Garden River. A vehicle was stopped on the highway waiting for other traffic to turn left off the roadway. A car driven by a Sault Ste Marie man struck the back of a pick up truck. No injuries were reported in the crash.

Seventy five (75) year old Frank MANGIARDI of Korah Road in Sault Ste Marie has been charged with Follow Too Close Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

MORE ANIMALS GETTING HIT BY CARS

(Laird Township, Ont.) OPP investigated another crash on an area highway involving animals on the roadway.

Yesterday morning at about 7:00 a.m. a vehicle was traveling westbound on Hwy 17 in Laird Township near Neebish Road. The driver struck a deer that was running across the roadway. The deer was hit but managed to still flee the area. There was minor damage to the vehicle and the lone occupant was not injured
